Did you know that hummingbirds don’t really hum? The humming is not vocal but comes from the rapid wing beats. A hummingbird beats its wings on average 50 times per second and much faster during courtship when males angle their feathers to create trilling noises and gain a female’s attention. They average 30 mph and can hit 60 mph during mating rituals.

There still is time to purchase tickets for Landings Night at the Ball Park on July 24. This year, for your convenience, you can purchase tickets from the comfort of your own home. Gates open at 5:30 p.m., and the game starts at 7 p.m., at Grayson Stadium. Children under three get in free.

Undesirable growth along nature trails, cart paths, and landscaped areas can be very difficult to control without non-selective herbicides. Yes, you can manually remove/cut down unwanted growth, but unfortunately, it will grow back quickly, causing the area you are maintaining to look unkempt, more often than not.
