Public Works...Working for You!
Community Bird Trail
This week, volunteers with Skidaway Audubon began installing birdhouses that will make up the Songbird Village Trail. The work encompasses the installation of bird houses on TLA common property to benefit cavity nesting bird species like Chickadees, Nuthatches, and of course Bluebirds. This is a natural progression of the very successful Dave Scott Bluebird Trail that follows the golf course on TLC property. The expansion of this and other Audubon projects from TLC to TLA properties will help local wildlife and expose more of our residents to these local conservation projects.
BrightView Landscapes Flower Bed Transitions
This week, BrightView Landscapes began to replace the flower beds at TLA facilities and gatehouses. These flower bed replacements are completed four times a year and are included within our annual landscape contract with BrightView.
Pine Straw Application at Gates and Amenity areas – Deer Creek
This week, BrightView’s contractor began installing pine straw at the gates and amenity areas. As a reminder, these areas receive pine straw twice a year as part of the landscape contract. The only common areas that receive pine straw are the gates and amenity areas (twice per year) and the Center Islands (once per year). The Deer Creek section of the community receives pine straw earlier than the remainder of the community in order to coincide with the Club Car Championship golf tournament.
2023 Road Replacement Project
Bennett Paving completed paving Wiley Bottom Road North this week. Beginning March 27, Bennett Paving will mill and pave Wiley Bottom Road South.
Delegal Creek Marina Water Leak
On Tuesday, staff, in conjunction with BrightView and Utilities, Inc., observed a water leak at the in-ground box at Delegal Creek Marina. After evaluating the irrigation system and water pipes in that area, staff determined that the backflow preventer had a minor leak that originated from a deteriorated cap (and O-rings) on the topside of the valve. Staff replaced both caps and O-rings this week, which ultimately stopped the water leak.
