10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2 … Happy 2022!!!!
It is that time of year where everyone makes those anxiously awaited New Year’s resolutions, and that includes all of us at the Marinas! Resolution number one is that we make solid progress on the redevelopment plans that currently are in the planning process for Landings Harbor Marina. The resident-led Landings Harbor Project Team along with its perspective Focus Groups’ input, gathered at the end of 2021, is being evaluated based on priority and feasibility. Considering the scope of the overall project, a phased approach will be considered for reasons pertaining to permitting, material costs, and contractor availability. Due to the property size and current layout, the dry rack replacement portion of the project is expected to be considered in the first phase. Subsurface exploration has been completed by Terracon Consultants that will provide engineering details to assist the dry rack construction companies with foundation configuration. Several dry rack construction companies are engaging with staff on design recommendations that would provide new rack building systems that accommodate for most all vessels expected to be dry stored on the property. Consideration of moving to above-ground fuel tanks also is part of the first phase, as the current tanks have reached their end of useful life. It is our goal to continue with the redevelopment of Landings Harbor Marina to create a premier destination for all resident of The Landings.
Resolution number two is to have all our dry storage members actively using the BoatCloud App to request boat movements. We made great strides last year and look forward to getting even more participation in 2022!
Resolution number three is to have the yearly Harbor Dredging Project be more effective and efficient. We are looking into additional steps we can take to make the task less daunting in the form of a bubble curtain that could alleviate some of the large amount of settlement that occurs from the tides in our basin.
We are excited about being a part of the yearlong Landings’ 50th Anniversary celebrations, as we look ahead to 2022! We invite you to send in any vintage pictures you may have of the Marinas. You can email them to Office Manager Jennifer Sabo (email@example.com).Keep your fingers crossed that we can reinstate some beloved Marinas traditions throughout the year.
As always, we resolve to provide our boaters and residents with a wonderful experience each time they visit the Marinas!
PLEASE NOTE: New Year’s Day, January 1, both Marinas will be closed so our crew can spend that day with their loved ones and recuperate from whatever the results of the football games are on New Year’s Eve. Please plan accordingly and use BoatCloud to make your reservations. We will happily put your boat in the water on December 31 so you can start the year off on your boat with your friends and family. If, by chance, your plans change due to schedules and/or weather, please remember to cancel your reservation on BoatCloud or call us at the Marina so that we don’t put it in the water as originally planned. Dock space is limited and will be on a first come, first-served basis.
2022 New Year’s Resolution ideas for boaters
- Check your emergency flares. They expire 42 months from when they were made. If you are cruising on coastal waters, you need to have up-to-date flares.
- Upgrade your life jackets. Two-thirds of boating fatalities are drowning incidents, and 90% of drowning victims were not wearing a life jacket. Shift the statistics in your favor by having a life jacket that’s comfortable and properly fits, including ones for your dogs and kids.
- Boat more often. Mark a day every month on your calendar right now that’s a boating day. It’s the best resolution that you’ll be happy that you kept.
We wish all of you a fantastic beginning to all your New Year’s resolutions!
Stay tuned for more information, and we’ll see you at the Marinas!
