Tropical Storm Elsa Update

On Monday through Wednesday, staff began to prepare for Tropical Storm Elsa. Preparations included street sweeping, storm drain inspections, road inlet clearing, downfall collection, evaluations of lagoon overflow structures, filling up all vehicles and equipment with gasoline and diesel, completing final inspections of all heavy equipment (i.e. backhoe, tractors), generator checks, securing TLA-owned facilities, etc. Staff also secured tree service contractors to perform storm recovery efforts if needed.

On Thursday, staff in conjunction with BrightView, began to address the felled trees (a total of 7 trees were removed from the roadways), moss and large tree branches from Tropical Storm Elsa. Crews are systematically working through the community to remove the downfall on the roadways, community paths, around the gatehouses, amenity areas and common properties. You will notice debris piles along the rights-of-way and common properties that staff and BrightView have created. A second crew will come through to remove the piles; however, the piles may remain alongside the roadway therafter.

Please note that all ongoing projects were placed on hold this week to allow staff adequate time to make the necessary preparations for the storm and subsequent cleanup.
