A Trip Down the Seine

No, not the river in France. A seine in this case is a fishing net that hangs vertically in the water with its bottom held down by weights and its top edge buoyed by floats.

On June 4 and 5, 10 CCA Volunteers seined 25 freshwater lagoons to determine fish hatch from last spring. Seining, along with electrofishing, are the tools used to determine how many fish we will stock in the future.

Because of the work of our volunteers, for more than 20 years CCA has created a unique bass fishery where you can catch a trophy. Our freshwater lagoons have never been in better shape.

CCA has seminars the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. at St. Peter’s Church and offers clinics on how to fish.
