Theft

On Thursday, December 31, a resident reported the theft of a trail camera and a recorder from Skidaway Farms and the adjacent sprayfield areas. The approximate value of both items is $180, and they were last seen on December 29. It is unknown who may have taken the items. The resident declined to notify Chatham County Police Department (CCPD). Extra patrols will be performed in the area.

Trespassing

On Sunday, January 3, an officer at the Main Gate witnessed an unauthorized vehicle gain entry through the residential lane. The shift supervisor and a patrol officer immediately were dispatched to locate the vehicle, and the vehicle was located on Westcross Road. Upon locating the vehicle, CCPD was dispatched. The occupants of the vehicle were identified as voter canvassers and were issued a Criminal Trespass Warning. The individuals’ supervisor was notified of the incident, and the individuals were escorted off the property.

Suspicious Incidents

Security and CCPD responded to a report of multiple gunshots coming from the McWhorter Drive/Priest Landing Road area on Wednesday, December 30. Officers found nothing unusual in their patrols, and no further shots were reported. Officers responded to the same area on the previous day for a report of gun shots as well. A patrol of the area resulted in negative findings.

On Wednesday, January 30, Security responded to a report of a suspicious individual trespassing on a resident’s property. Officers made contact with the individual who stated that she was trying to get to Ossabaw Island. Officers explained that she would need to contact someone at Ossabaw Island to setup a trip as it requires a boat to visit. They further explained that she was trespassing on private property and escorted her to the Main Gate. A review of the Avigilon video system showed that residential barrier arm had been struck by someone just prior to the woman entering, allowing her access before the barrier arm was replaced.
