Dive Emergency Incident

On Wednesday, July 15, Security responded to The Landings Harbor to assist with an incoming boat transporting a non-resident diver who was unconscious and unresponsive. US Coast Guard personnel responded to the boat, which was approximately 75 miles offshore, but their attempts to resuscitate the diver were unsuccessful. Chatham Emergency Services and Skidaway Island First Responders were standing by for the boat’s arrival, and the patient was pronounced deceased upon arrival. 

 

Gas Leak

On Thursday, July 9, Landings Security and Chatham Emergency Services (CES) responded to the intersection of McWhorter Road and Landings Way North for a gas leak. The leak was caused by a cable crew working in the area. McWhorter Road was closed at Westridge Road and all traffic was diverted through the Main Gate or the Deer Creek area for vehicles going to Modena Island.

Landings Security and CES responded to a residence on Mad Turkey Crossing on Saturday, July 11, for a possible golf cart fire. The resident advised that the battery in the golf cart exploded. There was no smoke or flames visible. As a precaution, CES removed the battery from the cart. No injuries or additional damages were reported.

Deceased Alligator

On Wednesday, July 15, Security and Brightview recovered a dead alligator from lagoon #22 by Tidewater Way & Landings Way South. The cause of death was undetermined, and no signs of illegal activities were observed.
