2020 Bridge Re-decking and Closure: Moon River and Marshview Landing
Two bridges are scheduled for re-decking this year through our Capital Asset Management Plan.
The Moon River bridge was installed in 2005 and serves as a connector bridge from Moon River to the remainder of the community. Marshview Landing bridge was installed in 2004 and serves as a connector bridge for residents in Marshview Landing, Moon River, and Oakridge.
Community path bridges have a useful life of 15 years based on usage. Both bridges have exhibited signs of significant deterioration to include splintering, deck deterioration, and the loosening of fasteners, which is causing some instability within the deck boards.
The project was bid to three companies; Powers Building Solutions, Expert Marine Construction, and Duke’s Custom Construction, Inc. Of the three vendors, Expert Marine Construction provided the lowest bid for the re-decking of each bridge.
Expert Marine Construction will begin this project on Monday, February 10, starting with the Moon River bridge. After that, the contractor will progress to the re-decking of the Marshview Landing bridge. Barring any complications, both bridges should be completed by Friday, February 21.
During the construction process, both bridges will be closed to all pedestrian and golf cart traffic.
Staff will continue to keep the community apprised of bridge re-openings, closures, etc. Thank you in advance for your patience and support as we continue to improve the infrastructure located throughout the community.
