On Thursday, Sean Burgess, Ingrid Poppell and Amber Capps attended the Monastery Ruins Sign dedication (the site is located on Priest Landing Drive between Breckenridge Lane and Lachlan Lane). At the site dedication, Sean Burgess provided a brief history of the site and how the project got started. Mal Welch highlighted Sustainable Skidaway’s role in the project and the sign development, along with Skidaway Audubon’s involvement. Thereafter, Laura Seifert, Savannah Archaeological Alliance Director, gave an illustrated talk at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church. Environmental Tree Crew Training
As part of the department’s continued educational and safety training, the tree crew participated in a training session presented by Tree Care Academy. The training was four hours long and focused on lift operations and tree care.
Lagoon 88 Aerator Replacement
This week, the lagoon crew completed an in-house replacement of the aerator located in Lagoon 88 (off Peregrine Crossing). The new aerator is a lower horsepower which is quieter and more energy efficient, yet still provides the same quality of service.
Construction Department Pothole Repair
The construction crew completed pothole repairs on the following roads this week: Wiley Bottom Road, Westridge Road, Landings Way South and Yam Gandy Road.
Lagoon 90 Pipe and Erosion Repair
The flared end section of the storm drainpipe located on the western bank of Lagoon 90 (on Landings Way South between Water Witch Crossing and Cotton Crossing) failed and required replacement this week. The project will be complete following installation of filter fabric and rock to reestablish the lagoon bank.
