Weather forecast from yr.no, delivered by the Norwegian Meteorological Institute and the NRK
Spring is here, and activity is picking up at the Marinas. Down at Landings Harbor, spruce-ups continue. Staff have been busy repainting crossbeams on the dry racks, pressure washing the docks, and spring cleaning in the store. Just in time to help usher in the season, the Landings Harbor store is receiving new items daily and gearing up for summer, so head down to see what great finds you can snag.
As many of you know, sunsets are beautiful at Delegal Creek Marina, but what you may not be aware of is the harbormaster office is selling beer, wine, soft drinks, Leopold’s ice cream, and frozen bait. Enjoy your visit from the tower, or perhaps rent a kayak and take a trip down the river.
At Landings Harbor, we are seeing an increase in the number of inquiries about available rack storage. Now is the time to start bringing your boats back, as we expect to reach capacity during the summer months. For more information on size, price, and availability, please call the Harbor Store (912-598-1901). When you are at either Marina, check out the activities that are scheduled to take place on our waterfront.
On April 20, join your friends and neighbors for a sustainability-themed picnic to celebrate Earth Day. This event will take place from 11:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Pack your own picnic with reusable containers and silverware to minimize waste. Under the authority of the Strategic Water Committee and with the financial support of Skidaway Audubon, a group of volunteers was assembled in late 2018 to install networked individual weather stations across the island. This is part of the ongoing commitment Skidaway Island made when it became the first Certified Sustainable Community in Georgia. Currently, we have weather stations operational on Weather Underground. Planned installations include the Franklin Creek Court Center, the Dog Park, and our two Marinas. Check them out on Weather Underground (www.wunderground.com)!
We are looking forward to one of the best boating seasons ever, so please continue to help us make our marinas the best they can be through your feedback. We value your input and suggestions, so keep them coming.
Until next time, I wish you happy boating and lots of bites (from fish, not sand gnats)!
