Mac and Cheese Recap

The 2018 Mac and Cheese Fest resident cook-off showcased some amazing culinary talent in our community!

All residents are encouraged to participate in this event each year by preparing their best mac and cheese dish in two categories: Traditional and Specialty. The pre-selected judging panel tastes the entries -- and boy did they have a tough decision to make this year! In a close race, Karen Feeney won the Adult Traditional Mac and Cheese category. Retaking the crown from his initial win in 2016, Eric Hobday wowed the judges with his entry in the Adult Specialty Mac and Cheese category. Keeping the family tradition alive, Tristan Zuck won the youth category for the second year in a row (but the judges said he showed enough talent to compete in the adult category!).

More than 250 residents and their guests came to taste the creative mac and cheese pairings of local restaurants Blowin’ Smoke and Bow Tie Barbeque Company. Pepper Jack or Gouda, baked or fried…it was hard to decide where to start! Mathnasium of Savannah Midtown joined us to provide some fun and educational kids activities, such as life-sized chess and giant Jenga to keep the younger crowd entertained before the movie night portion of the event. After all tummies were full, participants settled into their chairs and blankets to watch Disney Pixar’s Coco (2018) under the stars.
