Please join Chris Foster at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 15 at Delegal’s Sunset Pavilion for a special Sunset Sips event focusing on aging in place. Foster, a Gerontologist & Certified Senior Advisor, runs A Hand To Hold (AHTH) with offices in Savannah, Augusta, Macon, and Columbus. AHTH serves thousands of families in Georgia helping them navigate the aging process, delivering services in-home, and identifying additional needs in the environments of seniors. Many AHTH clients have Alzheimer-type dementia. Foster has been certified as a trainer of the Rosalynn Carter Institute For Caregiving’s Dealing with Dementia Behaviors program to help families and professionals with the difficulty of managing a person with dementia.

Heavy hors d’oeuvres will be served, and guests will have the opportunity to mingle with fellow residents, the speaker, and the event sponsor. The presentation will begin promptly at 6 p.m.

The program will begin with a brief snapshot of the cost of caregiving in the US, aging trends, and understanding the needs of seniors and the key drivers of decision making. From there Foster will discuss how to get started on a plan to age in place, what to include, conversations needed, and information that should be gathered & shared.  He then will move into the costs and housing options, as well as review how the marketplace is changing to add services and products to promote aging in place. Foster will conclude with "real life" stories and myths, and then share some thoughts on how to age as successfully as possible.
