Skidaway Island Boating Club’s (SIBC) annual “Burning of the Socks” will be held March 7 at 5 p.m. at Landings Harbor Marina. Come celebrate an old boating tradition where worn-out winter socks are burned in a bonfire to celebrate the end of winter and the start of the boating season. Attendees must bring a package of new, white athletic socks to be donated to Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless. Homeless Authority Executive Director Cindy Kelley will give brief remarks. BYOB, an old cotton sock to burn, and new, white socks for donation. A $10 cash contribution may be made in lieu of a package of new, white socks.
