Fly fishing is the topic for Coastal Conservation Association (CCA) Skidaway’s upcoming meeting and seminar scheduled for Monday, March 20 at St. Peter’s Church beginning at 7:00 PM. The featured speaker is Chad DuBose, owner and operator of Tall Tides Charters.
Fly fishing in the Savannah area differs greatly from fly fishing in mountain rivers, streams, and lakes. Chad will discuss fly fishing in the lagoons in The Landings and in the Low Country marshes. He will explain tidal fluctuations, the use of different flies, and the equipment set-up. Attendees will learn about the various species available in our area and the differences in species availability in summer and winter.
Chad grew up in Savannah, spending most of his weekends and summers on the water. He moved west and in 2010 made his way to Montana working as a fly-fishing guide. After cutting his teeth on the big western rivers and exploring Patagonia, seasonal fishing started to wear on him. Although the adventures out west were great, he knew back in Georgia he could fish all year long. He returned to Georgia in 2015 to run the local fly and outdoor shop, Rivers and Glen. He favors sight fishing for Redfish and other inshore species and has spent years honing in on the beautiful waterways and sharing his experiences and knowledge. He now runs his own saltwater charter fishing business, Tall Tides Charters.
The CCA’s March raffle prize is a 1/2 day inshore fishing trip with Chad DuBose of Tall Tides Charters, valued at $500.
